Pixar Animation Studios not only makes great movies, it shares the love with its technology. Last spring, the company put out a free, non-commercial version of RenderMan, the same software it uses to the render animation and visual effects on its own films. This week, Pixar announced it was releasing its Universal Scene Description software as an open-source project by the summer of 2016.
